Revolutionary Ti Metal Membrane Technology

Titanium Metal Membrane Technology
Titanium Metal Membrane Technology

Titanium(Ti) metal membranes are the filtration material of the future – set to revolutionise a number of industries, such as the dairy, beer, fruit, food and wine industries. JIPL /FL, with AMS Filtration, is offering to the New Zealand marketplace the ground-breaking world first, only Ti membrane technology. Available NOW!

The New Zealand market is driven by changing technologies and emission guidelines specified across various industries, so the industry remains highly motivated towards new product developments. The Ti metal membrane is a product that has the ability to achieve massive savings and should be considered as both a process change and for its environmental impact.

AMS filtration has developed the world’s only 100% titanium cross-flow, small-bore membrane filter. This is available as a completely automated or as a manual system.

This is a world-first and it’s here in New Zealand! We have pilot plants available to run tests now.

Traditionally polymer-based products have been used in the filtration world. 99% of filtration today is predominately a plastic/chemical process utilised in just about everything in our lives – from drinking water, wastewater, to processing wine, beer, fruits, dairy and in the many industrial applications necessary in the ever-expanding world we live in.

So, what’s the problem?
Answer: It contains plastic or chemicals and it’s a throwaway product!

  • Nothing in the filtration world lasts – our environment and landfills are full of waste filters. Given the plastic used in the construction of these filter types, they will take many years to break down.
  • With traditional filtration, additional technical issues include the cleaning of membrane filters, which ultimately destroys them or reduces their life span. This is a difficult process because simply put the stronger the chemical ultimately limits their service life – i.e.the harder you wash your best shirt the worse it feels.
  • Additionally, chemical filters are not strong – they have extreme limits towards high solids, fats, oils, greases, and of course temperature, plus they don’t like high low pH for long periods. Cleaning them involves a lot of time and money.

So why are titanium metal membranes the way of the future?

Firstly – they’re metal and therefore not affected by steam, pH, chemical, fats, oils, grease, basically the metal membranes are practically indestructible and because of that will last forever, and when they finally give out – they are 100% recyclable,

Titanium metal membranes are the most advanced development in the past 25 years, a quantum leap forward from what is currently available. The Ti metal membrane is the superhero of the modern era.

To make metal porous is an incredible achievement and these membranes are on the way to becoming a global leader.

Abattoir Wastewater – Pilot Trial

Above is a short video of a trial at an abattoir using the amazing metal membrane technology:

The pilot results were astounding:

92.0% reduction of BOD
99.9% reduction of TSS
83.3% reduction of TOC
61.3% reduction of Total N
29.7% reduction of Total P
99.3% reduction of e-Coli

No fouling. No chemicals/polymers added. Recovery after cleaning to 100% of our baseline flux

This is the next development of filtration expanding boundaries, reducing chemicals and changing the environmental landscape for many years to come.
