JIPL has utilised our expertise with industrial ovens and air transfer technology in a number of projects recently. We have upgraded and perfected a number of local ovens.
Recently JIPL completed an oven upgrade for a manufacturer utilizing our unique airflow technology. The leading New Zealand manufacturer and exporter of innovative designs in aluminium extrusions and extrusion-based building systems recently engaged JIPL to upgrade and modify their powder coating oven.
The manufacturer was experiencing delays in their throughput as their oven could only utilize the top quarter of the oven envelope for their extrusions due to problems with the airflow.
JIPL optimized the oven, maximizing the airflow system for long extrusions allowing the full height of the oven to be utilised. JIPL stripped out and replaced all internal ducting and modified the circulation fan to improve the airflow. JIPL included an extract fan and a new burner.
JIPL also added their unique air seals at both ends of the oven. Air seals prevent costly spillage of hot air from the oven and prevent temperature variations within the oven. The air seal design originated in the UK and has been significantly developed by JIPL over several years to reduce hot air losses (and ambient air ingress at floor level) by up to 90%.
The results were immediate. JIPL improved the airflow of the oven by 103%, allowing more even temperatures monitored on products passing through the oven and allowing the client to utilise the whole envelope. The client is now getting more than 120% cure on their products. The conveyor speed/throughput was improved by more than 23 per cent. The production was doubled by these changes.
Another local client has engaged JIPL to improve the characteristics of their oven to increase throughput and produce quality products. For this client, JIPL will split off the existing batch and camel-backed ovens and refurbish the ovens with new controls and new burners. We will separate the ovens to operate independently and add a gel-off area to the oven. The expectation is to double the throughput and improve the quality.
